Safina Party wins big as the former Mwea Constituency MP joins the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race

With the August 9th General Elections fast approaching, The Safina Party continues to broaden its reach in the Mt. Kenya region eyeing the Kirinyaga Gubernatorial seat.

The former Mwea Constituency MP, Hon. Peter Njuguna Gitau publicly announced his bid to join the Kirinyaga County Gubernatorial race on a Safina Party ticket, while speaking at Sifa Gardens-Kutus, Kirinyaga County in Tuesday, March 22 2022.

The incoming Governor expressed his confidence and asked the people to trust in the Safina Party and the recently endorsed Safina Party presidential candidate Hon. Jimi Wanjigi, who was also present at the event.

Hon. Peter Njuguna Gitau, born in 1965, Mwea Constituency, Kirinyaga County, was first elected as member of parliament for Mwea Constituency in 2007 on a PNU Party ticket. He was then re-elected into the 11th parliament in March 2013 on a The National Alliance (TNA) party ticket in the Jubilee Alliance.

In the National Assembly he is a Member of Procedure and House Rules Committee and a member of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Co-operatives.

In the 10th Parliament he was a member of the Departmental Committee on Lands and Natural Resources and Committee on Implementation.

Before his involvement in politics, the gubernatorial aspirant served as a Machine operator in 1985 at Rai plywoods Kenya Limited. From 1986 he was a Physical Planner at Steel structure Limited and later in 1990, he worked as a Physical Planner in the Ministry of Lands.
